How to Prevent the Most Frequent Safety Violations

March 28, 2024

OSHA has listed the most frequently cited safety violations in 2023. Carrier Chronicles (https://carrierchronicles.com) shows how to mitigate these hazards.

  1. Fall protection - required for employees working six feet or higher above ground. Protection includes guard rails, safety nets and safe surfaces. Employees must be properly trained and supervised.
  2. Hazard communication - classify potential chemical hazards and communicate them in writing. Employers must keep an inventory of chemicals onsite, and label them with hazard statements. If possible, eliminate or substitute hazardous chemicals. Employees should have personal protective equipment when needed.
  3. Ladders - employees should be trained in safe use. Keep traffic away from ladders.
  4. Scaffolding - employees above 10 feet require protection from falls and falling objects. Use personal fall arrest systems. Scaffolds must be properly designed.
  5. Powered industrial trucks - employees must be trained in their operation. Do not exceed rated loads. Maintain visibility at all times. Follow fire protection, design, maintenance and use requirements.
