Restarting Businesses in the "New Normal"

May 12, 2020

In addition to addressing workplace reopening after COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, businesses must address how they will interact with their customers.

According to John K. Tiene of management consulting firm Argonne Associates, businesses must plan with safety in mind for employees and customers. Social distancing should continue. Face masks and sanitizer will still need o be provided. Payments and deliveries will involve little to no person to person contact.

The businesses that are flexible and realize we are not going back to the way things were will survive. Unfortunately, early reports are that some businesses are not observing the rules. On the other hand, customers sometimes are upset, and even violent, when they are not served as they wish. We must get used to the idea that instant gratification is no longer desirable or in many cases possible.
