Following President Trump's executive order to remove Tik Tok, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has called for a "clean" United States internet with no Chinese companies. China is pushing back, but they have their own firewall against U. S. search engines.
According to a post in Cyber Security Intelligence, security expert Professor Alan Woodward calls this the "Balkanisation" of the Internet. While there are legitimate security concerns about Chinese companies operating in the United States, limiting access to foreign content could be harmful to American companies doing business abroad, as well as individuals and organizations concerned about the free exchange of ideas.
