This week Steve King of CyberEd.io posted about the growing sophistication of cyber criminals. They are using ransomware proceeds to "reinvest" in new products, infrastructure and services.
They sell access to desktops, networks, and internet services. Similar to legitimate online markets, they have daily specials and "buy one, get one free" offers.
They recruit teams of professionals and offer them with "Ransomware as a Service" (RaaS) or sold separately.
Security tools are for sale, organized by attack vector and malware style. Malware and exploit kits are available in a wide range of styles.
They offer financial advisers and consultants, and specialty groups with unique attack variants for hire.
To sum up, these are not your father's Internet thugs.
According to King, Microsoft vulnerabilities will be targeted in the next six months.
Warning - more cyber attacks are coming to a computer near you. Be very afraid - and prepare for "sticker shock" when your Cyber policy is renewed.
