The Three Key Threats of Artificial Intelligence

January 11, 2024

By now it is well established that AI's problem solving power and convenience are matched by its potential for harm. Threat actors are using AI for their criminal purposes. The Black Hat website lists three significant threats for 2024 (post at https://insights.blackhatmea.com/3-key-ai-threats-for-2024/?utm_source=linkedin&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=bhmea24).

  1. Deepfakes - fraud attacks rose by 3,000% in 2023. They are used to manipulate individuals and affect national elections and wars. As technology becomes more efficient and accessible it will be used for more low level scams and cons.
  2. Zero-day attacks - AI can find and exploit vulnerabilities before humans are aware of them. Cybersecurity teams must use AI to counter this threat.
  3. Automated malware - threat groups will be able to target a higher volume of victims, with more and more successful attacks.
